House Band Gigs

I've been doing one for a 'Chick Singer Night' series here in Madison every other month or so. These are organized all over the country-check it out- www.chicksingernight.com.
The format is 5 different singers every show- 3 songs each- and the hostess does a few of hers. I have a few weeks to woodshed the material and we go live with possibly 15 minutes rehearsal time with each artist at the soundcheck. A nail biter, but we rise to the occasion every time and have a great show. It has really given me confidence in an area I considered myself weak, which is why I accepted the offer. The bonus- I actually get paid!
I've had to really do some stretching, but I've gotten to work with a couple dozen artists and gone places I've not dared to before musically.

That sounds like a great gig! I'd love to do that, I looked up the LA chapter and... Well, the current bass players are [FONT=verdana,helvetica]Ric Fierabracci and Adam Cohen. Uh, that's setting the bar pretty high... These are A-list players, I guess it's not that way in every city. [/FONT][FONT=verdana,helvetica] How would one go about getting an audition?[/FONT]

Last week we did a medley of Whole Lotta Love/Holy Diver/NIB.

At the house gig the other night we did a Whole Lotta Love>Voodoo Child>Heaven and Hell>NIB medley. The funniest part about it is that we primarily play classic country with a few rock songs here and there. I never know what we're gonna play until the next song is called out.
