How about a neck-thru P-bass?

Very nice! I like the Warwick (and possibly Alembic- don't recall) inspired nut as well as the NTB construction. Always nice to see a luthier deal with things that do not immediately enter the minds of the layplayer.

Probably doesn't give the traditional P-bass sound, but no prob there- seems a great bass for those who want a neck-thru sound (or whatever differences there may be, lest this thread erupt into unnecessary debate) with retro looks, and those who want the P-bass tone can look elsewhere. I'd have gone with a parch guard, tho.

What's it generally sell for without the bridge pup?

I like it. To those who don't like the idea of a neckthrough P bass, the P pickup has a very dominant tone and you'll find many P bass owners who'll probably agree that body woods don't really matter. I wouldn't think the neck joint is going to be terribly significant, either. If anything, I think the tone will be pretty darn close, maybe a little more sustain, perhaps not as sharp of an attack and not as quick of a decay. So, probably sounds a lot like a P bass, but has a little more of an even dynamic.

I don't care for blocks on a P bass; I'd rather see no inlays with the binding or dots without. It would also be cool to see the MM pickup closer to the P. Other than that it looks really cool, even the nut.

The BB2000s are an amazing neck-through take on the Precision. HUUUUUUGE sounding.

The funny thing is that, after all is said and done, the easiest way I can see to do a fine adjustment of this particular nut is to set the screw so it's as close as possible but a little high and then finish it by lowering it to where you want it by using a slotting file...just like on a traditional nut.

Some loctite or nail polish will secure the threads, but the string pressure should be sufficient in itself to keep them stable.

Still, if it ain't broke...
