Started Choir in grade 1, Recorder grade 3-5. In grade 5, my teacher 'voluntold' me for the school strings and I was assigned a Cello. I picked up a lot of theory, learned the Bass scale, learned the low end role in a group, learned to listen, and trained my ear over that time. I played that for 4 years and fell out of making music for 10.
My dad got into guitar again after about a 15 yr break, formed a band with his old buddies and a bass was slowly integrated. The bass player does shift work, so many times they were without a player. I gradually filled his role on his gear (Yamaha BB450)and over a couple years of playing by ear, decided to get my own bass and learn from scratch. Here I am 6 years later and 3 basses deep.
Also, I find Bass really suits my personality ...
