I played in a band for about seven years with a phenomenal drummer, and all I had to bring to a gig was an Eden 2x10 and a 150watt Laney head. Stage volume was great, monitors were plenty loud and the mix on stage was as good as out front. But he moved to Colorado. Every drummer I've jammed with since was so loud that I couldn't hear myself with that rig. Dynamics apparently mean play really loud and then just play less (but just as loud) for the "lower" dynamics. Now I cart around an 8x10 and a SVT2 pro - just to get over the drums. Can't even mic his snare drum, and even without a mic, it's still too loud.
Don't particularly want to carry the bigger rig around, but finding a drummer with good dynamics has been a lost cause for me the past few years.
Makes me miss jamming with Jeff - If anyone out in Denver way is looking for a kick ass drummer, he would be one.
I chose 500 since 300 wasn't listed.
