I'd say a 100w MINIMUM

If it HAS 1000w, that doesn't mean you are going to USE all 1000w. I'd rather have headroom left over than be struggling and sound like garbage =/

Technically speaking sensitivity of speakers has more to do with It then wattage.

Speaker A is 200w and can produce a max SPL of 130 db at 10 feet

Speaker B is 300w and can produce a max SPL of 120 db.

Speaker A will sound louder even though it's 100w less because it's more efficient.

Example:
Yorkville E1152 2000w 4000peak
Peak SPL 133db
JBL PRX615m 1000w 2000peak
Peak SPL 135db
