HOw Do I Get This ( Enclosed ) Grit?

he has a jazz bass, i have one too, he has an ampeg rig, i have one too , but he has an orange rig WITH the ampeg , i dont have and cant afford,
so what pedal could i use with my SVT rig to get this sound?
Marshall Guvnor maybe?

Probably a bit expensive but sounds like a tone the darkglass b3k could pull off quite well.

Only laptop speakers so I couldn't get much of a listen. But if you want to approximate an orange amp, there's a few options. I'd try the Earthquaker Devices Monarch overdrive first.

You could put it in a blender loop, so you'd have half Orange (the wet blend) and half SVT (the dry blend) sounds, and it would be rad as hell.

Ya the B3k is definately what i was thinking too, but 380 bucks is just too much, You think a VT bass could doo it?

I think the FEA Dual Band Distortion can do that. I will need to try some sonic experiments to see if it can come close.

The B3k is 295$ before shipping most places where its available, it's still hella expensive but for what it delivers I've never thought about its price since receiving it.. and it could definitely get you that tone! I dont have much experience with the VT bass but wouldnt it be redundant into an ampeg rig?

I think markxander could be on to something with the Monarch into a blender idea though. I've seen it on more boards recently and I'm also very interested in that pedal.

Yeah the Monarch is an Orange emulator. I even think one is for sale in the classifieds.

You could also try the sans amp Oxford ... (orange emulator)

to me, it sounds like jazz bass (all knobs up), pick, and a sansamp plugin. no mids, all grindy highs. heard that sound a million times.

I just tried a sansamp Bass DI - it didn't do it, maybe cuz i got low output barts , just tried a Marshall Govnor , even did the C22 mod ( which made it way coller/better ) , and while the Marshall makes for a good narly distortion, it wasn't "that ^^ " sound, and ya its definately a Jazz , wide open with a pick, as thats what/how he plays,
So I will Try a VT Bass next, And the Oxford , but I'm trying to avoid the Expensive B3k - even though its probly what i need , its freakin pricy
