How do I get this sound? What the hell is it? Got to have it!!!

Go into YT ,Find out who the Bass Player is and his set-up .He's using Aguilar ...you can see the Logo ,but it looks like a small stack cuz the logo is so low and it's elevated on the stage .Had another look and there seem to be no pedals .A 4x10 +1x15 i think would be a lot higher .I like this sound too it's got real girth too many guys these days have their Treble on full on the Bass,too many highs,this sounds like it's rolled off/down on the JB.

I love that tone! A lot of it has to do with the Jazz bass he's playing. It sounds to me like he has both pickups blended and plays right over the bridge pickup to give it punch while the neck pickup fills out the low end. The amp must have the treble cut back but I think the bass tone knob could be set open still and it's just the amp cutting the highs. I don't know for sure though... I know I try to get a similar sound and like it better when the bass tone knob is up full open. It allows for a more precise control of the highs through the amps EQ IMO.

With all due respect having the Treble cut back on the Amp wouldn't be a good idea for live playing ,it would be more advantageous to get your sound from the Bass end rather than running to the Amp when the next number is a slap job ,but you never know ? There's a huge amount of different Tones to get from a JB with slight adjustments as you probably know (your sig ) even turning the Vol back a fraction gives interesting results . The Everything full on ,beat the sh!t out of it fraternity don't know what they're missing. He's also got a lot of overall Vol and not plucking hard which gives great tone ,it's also good to hear the Kick way up in the Mix .Anyway ... G'luck

yeah, through real speakers that bass is huge! i almost suspect some kind of subwave octaver thing snuck into the sound a little, adding that synth-y bottom.

otherwise, a nice active 5-string J, probably dialed to the typical "middle but just cracked towards the bridge a little" setting, lots of bass boost, maybe some compression either in the chain or added to the recording, and (more important than everything else put together) a very gentle, controlled touch to let the lows shine without overpowering the rest of the sound.

i highly doubt we're hearing the cabs at all, maybe not the amp either.

The Bass Player is Braylon Lacy he's an Aguilar endorser and is in their Artists list as playing an AG500 + a GS412 .das it Innit ! I was curious, so I did what I told you to do .
