How do you PREFER to AQUIRE basses? Simplified Version

So, the question is, how do you prefer to acquire basses?

Again, this thread is just for fun........not a marketing ploy.

My last three were brand-new, but I'm not opposed to passing up a good deal on a used bass. There's an Ibanez 5-string at a pawn shop down the street for $150 that I've been thinking about.

Craig's list. I have found some amazing deals there. Over the summer I found a MTD bass for $120. It's one the best playing 5 string bass I have ever used. It seems odd I will play a gig switching between the $120 MTD and an Alembic.

I find what I like and keep it - used Fender 30-something years ago, new Lull 12 years ago.

My last half dozen have come from TB Classified section. That being said, I have a new Hammersmith coming. But as far as how I acquire them "the most" it's used through this community.

I usually try to buy new if I could, or slightly used. I'm a bit uneasy about buying a bass that someone had for 10 years...that's a long time for a stranger to put their own *mojo* all over it....gotta go through a whole bottle of Purell on that crap...

In theory I'm fine buying used, but I'm picky and I like warranties, so I almost always buy new.

That's fine......it's not necessarily what you own now, but possibly in the future too.

Oh. That doesn't help entirely because I buy where I find it. But since I'm looking more at discontinued and hard to get basses lately, I guess I'll vote used then.

But seriously, I think even this simplified poll (or perhaps especially this simplified poll) would benefit from allowing multiple responses. I look at my collection of instruments and it's a pretty even distribution of All Of The Above. (Er, okay, Most Of The Above...none of my basses arrived via Endorsement.) So statistically speaking, none of the available choices is accurate for how I most frequently acquire basses.

Some people buy new because they like new things. Others buy used for cost savings.

That's why I made it simple. Make a choice and move along.

I buy new, except for Warwick. I've gotten huge discounts with endorsements. I got one free bass, custom built, through an endorsement.
