I purchased an empty ATA style case on ebay and then built my own board to fit in it. It has saved my butt many times as it is easy to load, stacks well and is extremely rugged. It has changed configurations many times since I bought and is still holding up well. It has two latches that allow the "lid" to lift right off with a spring loaded handle for carrying. I would say it is likely the single most helpful thing I have done for rig in years. I used to have one of those zip up soft padded cases with a powered board that lifts out, which are pretty handy, but not nearly enough room or protection for me. Currently my Mighty Pedalboard case is only housing my Nova System, Vol and Expression Pedals, LoopStation and Korg Tuner. There was a time when I had i think 14 different pedals on it setup with a loop switcher. If you get a good quality case, you can build the rest to suit your needs and it should last as long as you want it to.
