Thank you. Can you produse this sound only on fretless? Is it like a double slide? Bc it sounds much more reacher...Fretless slide, sounds like to me. Definitely a fretless...
Yes, thats what I ment slide up and back ( called it "double slide" lol, just made a name) How do I work on that specific sound? Any tips? Thanks.Sounds like a regular fretless single string slide up and back down to me. But my ears aren't the best any more.
Cool tune, by the way, thanks for posting that. One thing I love about TB is constantly finding music I'd never have heard otherwise.![]()
Yes, he does that quite a few times..this one was more noticeble so I refered you thereThere's another similar smaller slide at 1:06.
I have a fretless... but I meant, if there's any guide/ tutorial for that thing. I started practicing, I play some of it but not in the original 116 bpm. 87 for now, lol and ofcourse, only the parts without slapping and plucking etcMy only advice is get a fretless, and practice a lot. A whole lot. I only wish I could play at that level, that's some really fine playing.![]()
Cool tune.
Various types of slides, glisses, or glissandos are very common in old Rick James tunes. Go to 1:10 in this video for a nice double slide:
Also a nice double slide at 2:40 in this Britney video
So it does called double slide? Is there a video teaching the right techniqe? Thanks!
Thank you very much for all the information, will have a look after "Yom Kippur"I would call it a double slide or a double gliss.
Here's an article with a YouTube video that covers a bunch of different slides.

I just learned from playing along with various Rick James tunes. When you are doing this sort of slide, pay attention to where you start, how high you go before you reverse, and the rate of change at various parts of the slide.
