try to stay above 2 wraps around the post. i've probably got about 1.5 wraps on my MIA J5 right now, and it does very weird tuning stuff. at E it would probably be fine, but down at C it jumps all over the place on the ol tuner. i've gigged it twice like this, and i'm fed up, i actually have to tune mid-set, which i've never had to do with a fender bass. new strings go on tomorrow.
