I prefer the old theme simply beause of the plain white is a bit too subtle. On my big, shiny monitor everything spreads out and it becomes a bit hard to distinguish UI elements. The old theme has more accentuated post frames, and the light blue is aesthetically pleasing.

Posing this on Android using the browser. It's great

Using the old theme and rediscovering the crack butto..., er, the new posts button makes the new site much more enjoyable. The only other thing I've noticed is photos aren't coming through that used, but maybe that's an issue on my end, though it happens both at home and at work.

And while we're all p!ssing & moaning ... I don't like how only the newest 15 posts comes up when i click the home button. Used to be pages and pages of newest posts to threads. Am i just not doing it right? EDIT: Well duh, I see if i just click on the 'new post' button it does list them. Learning curve of not knowing where things are is tough :/

Lots of agreement sometimes makes you not post because someone already posted your opinion . For me anyway, so the like system is a handy gage tool.
You pretty much nailed it. The thinking behind this (built in) feature comes from the 'quote the message in its entirety and then add ONLY a +1' type of responses. These can end up being wasteful (system resource-wise), confusing (for some who later search through threads to find *content* and for some, annoying.
Enter the 'Like' button. Now, people can add their +1's without clogging up the system (so to speak). Faster, easy, better.

Oh, and yes there is an add-on extending this feature which allows users to express a wide range of views on a post, again with a simple click of a button. I don't know how well it would serve the members here on TalkBass, nor what impact it might have on the system resources.

I'm old and I hate change! ANyway once you get used to it, the new forums aren't too bad. Kinda like facebook.
All I'm going to say here is 'good eye'! ;)

I changed my browser bookmark for TB to http://talkbass.com/find-new/posts, that's my "home button".

I don't even remember what the old site looked like, I probably spent at least an hour or two on it every day for 6 years :woot:

The only thing that really bothers me now is how slow it is for the alert and inbox menus drop when you hover your mouse over them, and it's honestly not that bad. That, and I'm a bit perturbed that the app still isn't working. However, the new site runs so well on my phone's web browser that it's really not an issue.

So much professional nit-picking leads me to believe no one read Paul's post announcing that this was wanted and being prepped for for years now.

This thread smells like a full diaper.
Agreed. Normally I like to think I am a bastion for misplaced outrage, and now my misplaced outrage is getting redirected towards misplaced outrage instead of authority.:(
