How do you mic a 4x10 cab with a high frequency transducer horn??

Sorry for my newbie question. Im quite new with this.

I have always been on a D.I. when I was gigging before. Now, playing for a church Im given a chance to have a mic on the bass cab.

My question is... where do I place the mic? The cab is a Hartke VX410 Invalid Link Removed

It has a horn on the middle of the 4 10's. I only have the option of using 1 mic for it.

On the speaker. Exactly where is a matter of personal choice.

Move it around till you get a tone you like.

Miking near the horn may be rather harsh, with very intense transients.

IME the horn does nothing but add clicks and clacks, so there's little if any reason to mic it. If there is, just back the mic off a little and position it where it gets the best blend.

Just mic the 10" speaker driver, stay away from the tweeter.

I'll mic whatever driver is closest to the horn, around halfway between the edge and the dust cap. The tweeter will bleed in just enough.

You really don't need the high end after 3khz anyway. Unless you are Fieldy of Korn.
