How do you tune your basses (AT GIGS) with low E/B?

I use a Polytune Clip-On tuner or my Zoom B-3. When I use the clip on I leave it on.. I see nothing at all wrong with that at all..

I had a Sonic Research Turbo Tuner and loved it but once I added the Eventide H9 I no longer needed a dedicated tuner. The H9 tuner is fantastic.

I've got a chromatic pedal tuner, an auto pedal tuner, a mini korg tuner/metronome, and a clip-on headstock tuner. When at home, the headstock tuner is fine, but when trying to tune with it in a noisy room, it's terrible. I tend to stick with the chromatic pedal tuner, and the korg tuner as a back up.

I play a 5 string and use a boss tu-2. I only use my B string for one of our songs so far though. I always tune my ead&g strings first, and check my B last.

Most notes sound fuller on frets 5,6,7,8... You might like to try playing E, F, F# & G on the B string. Worth a try?

The Peterson clip-on strobe tuner works great for me! I never leave it on the headstock tho, that looks stupid.

I never tune "open" since I rarely play open.

I use this Korg GA Custom which tracks the low B just fine. I just pop it in before each set, tune up, then place it on the amp (or wherever) during the show. The battery has lasted a really long time and it's flat enough to carry it your back pocket, no extra cables needed.

And that's cool but I have all I need(2 of 'em)and they work in all situations. No turning around, no sitting on it-right there if I need it.

My comment wasn't directed at you in particular or anyone's usage of clip-on tuners. Personally, I couldn't care less what people have attached to their instruments. It was directed more to the OP in that he wanted something lightweight to carry on a bike to gigs. The GA custom is more compact than a pedal and its associated cables and provides an alternative to a clip-on.

I have a Peterson clip-on that I bought quite awhile ago but still prefer a plug-in (Korg Pitchblack rackmount, GA Custom, or a Pitchblack pedal). To me and my weak eyes, they are easier to see on stage.

I also play upright on stage almost exclusively these days so the Korgs track faster and more accurately for me than a clip-on attached to the bridge.

Nope, wasn't taking it personally. Each of us(that actually tunes)uses what works best for us.
