How does a custom Valenti compare to a Sadowsky Metro?

I understand that both these luthiers/companies have a massive following on Talkbass...both produce Fender-J/P style bodies...and both resell around the same price...

how do these two basses compare in tone/quality/playability/etc...?

Do a search - there was a pretty extensive thread on exactly this subject a few months back.

FWIW, there is a also difference in the new selling price between a Valenti and a Metro. My custom Valenti 5 with dot-free ebony fretboard, black headstock (to match the body), matte B/W/B pickguard, and all-Sadowsky electronics cost $1,800 versus over $2200 for a stock Metro RV-5.

i've seen metros go for 1500 and valenties for 1300

I have SEEN a metro or 2 go for 1500, but that is not the norm and the usual second hand valenti is a little less than what you posted generally. Just saying, generall a metro is pricier than a valenti. So figure that into comparison.

I have also seen a pretty vast array of valentis when it comes to specs, and pretty much somewhat of a formula when it comes to metros.

You have to compare Apples to apples.

If you compare a 4-string Sad metro Jazz to a 4-string Valenti Jazz, your're looking at about $1500 for the metro and about $800-900 for the Valenti.

There are other Valenti's that will sell for more used but those are fuller-featured instruments.

To the OP, I only have played one Valenti -- the one I own. It is a P and it is an awesome bass. It's difficult to compare that one to my Sadowsky's because the configurations are different.

I will say that I bought it used and it is worth every penny I paid.
