How does you intelligence compare to a 12 year old?

IYet this does not go to show that kids are smarter these days - they just know how to take tests better. Standardized testing, No Child Left Behind, etc., etc. There's so much emphasis on testing that these kids know how to best pick out A,B,C, or D, yet don't know what exactly they are answering.

I don't think kids are any smarter, if anything basic education seems to be getting passed over. Simple English (in American schools, at least) is horrible. I don't know how many times I was drilled about "two, to and too" or "a lot" or simple capitalization/punctuation. I realize there's a certain amount of 'internet speak' and just plain laziness (not hitting the shift key). But I remember seeing a Jay Leno bit interviewing college graduates in CA, just basic American history questions and got the most brain-dead answers you could get from someone who's just gone through 16+ years of education.

That 12 year old was either Mensa material, knew the questions, or a complete aberration. It's been said something like 'set a million monkeys in front of typewriters and eventually you'll get the Bible.'

Instead they teach what is largely completely useless to anyone who doesn't go on to a specialized degree (and even then at the university level an entire year's high-school coursework is typically covered in a month or two)....

Here's one of the things I never understood, SMASH --- If you're a Business major.........why the hell don't they make golf a mandatory course for you!?!?

Boo-yah - You want to be a big shot in the business world, be wicked on the links!
