How far away from you is the closest cow?

About 1/2 mile. Best part is we can't smell 'em.
My neighbor's farm, which is about ¼ mile down the road.

About 1/2 mile. Best part is we can't smell 'em.
Same for us. These people have a small lot with a couple of Brahma bulls and one cow.
Trees and a thicket at the fence line so I don't see them either.
A few blocks... The UW dairy science department.
10 yards. My neighbor has cows, horses, goats, pigs, ducks, chicken and turkeys. Sometimes in the morning, they're out surrounding my car and I have to shoo them back in their pasture.
I'm closer to bison than I am to any cow.
Not too terribly far, considering this place has the nickname of Cowtown. But not too terribly close, either. A few miles, probably.
Neighbors had two not long ago, now a quarter of one is in the garage freezer.
I drive by many just hanging out any time I leave the house, plus a few dairy farms around also.
Lamas and Alpacas are also very plentiful.
Wish there were more pigs.
Someone recently was giving away two and asked if we wanted them but I did not want to build another home for them at night, so declined.
The Wife told me I should have taken them, they can sleep in the living room.
They were already rehomed then...

Arlington is a suburb between two large cities. Still, if I'm up early in the morning I hear roosters crowing, and sometimes encounter horse poop on the sidewalk when I'm out for a stroll.

Yup. In certain parts of Houston you might see horses being ridden in the median of a street.
1 mile to cows and 2 miles to horses. 1/4 mile to chickens. 100 yards to organic produce farm.
I swear there is one cow who stares at me every time I drive by his pasture. He better be careful.
