I found it HILARIOUS 'cause that is EXACTLY how I started....one of my friends was a (classically trained and awsome) keyboard player who picked up guitar easily. My other friend was a "decent" drummer so they "needed" a bass player to complete the "Traid" (the name of our first band - sad I know! but hey we were in high school...).
anyways, I grew to REALLY love the bass and the groove we can set down.....I have realized that we ARE important to the music!
And don't you "other musicians" EVER for get that!!!
+1 Me too. My church needed a bass player and since I played guitar for 16 years they figured that I would pick up bass pretty easy. There was another guitarist but he was the pastor's son so you know he wasn't budging.
After I picked up the bass and started jamming I instantly fell in love and if you tried to move me back to guitar I would throw a fit like a spoiled toddler. No one moves the bass player, NO ONE!!!:scowl:
