How good are the Genzler Bass array cabs?

Ok everyone, thanks for the input! It seems like almost everyone likes the tone of these cabs. But I'm also wondering how these cabs compare in volume to ie, classic Bergantino 410 or Mesa PH 410 cabs capable of handling 800 watts or so. Would a person need to get a stack of 3 cabs ( as I have seen) to get the volume put out by a couple 212 cabs and a head capable of putting out 800-1000 watts RMS?

Sensitivity is listed as 103dB, which is on the high side. Power handling is listed at 1,000W; also on the high side for a 410. I would not expect the BA410 to under perform. However, whether one is too much or not enough will depend on your needs and expectations.

I'm glad this thread came up because It occurred to me that the brighter/ "not bright enough" sounds some might be experiencing could be a result of the relative sensitivity difference that either the 112 or 115 cab have with four of the 3" mid drivers, compared to only six of the 3" mid drivers with the 410.

I live out in the boonies and can't compare these array cabs anywhere near me. To those who have played through all three, do you find the 12 and 15 cabs inherently brighter than the 410?

Like Jaco Who, I live out in the boondocks and can't go out and easily test drive these fascinating Bass array cabinets to compare them to the cabinets that I've already been using, thus the reason for my post. If any one else can speak of their specific experience with a former favorite amp/cab combination that later gave way to conversion to the Bass Array cabs (in any amplifier arrangement)… and please be specific about what you like or disliked. I hope to make a long trek to try one out for my self later this summer. I have a studio full of heavy bass cabs I'd love to replace if these cabs are truly better than the ones I already have. Again thanks for all the input so far!

The times I've gotten to use these for backline cabs, I was definitely way louder than the rest of the band (pretty much using my normal levels for a show). So much louder I had to turn my amp down a couple times to try and balance things out during our set.

Just a follow up comment to some that have found the Bass Array offering a different response in the top end than a tweeter based cabinet design. Certainly everyone has their own needs to what they want to hear from their rig and specific cabinet options that are available. And there are those that might prefer the "snap" that a tweeter loaded cabinet might offer, either in a 410 combination or different cabinet variations. But certainly the Bass Array design does offer that frequency response in top-end range, but it is smoother and thus is not as accentuated in the upper range as would be with a tweeter loaded design. Some think of the BA as more of a reference monitor for the bass instrument. The upper end is there and can be increased with a little treble enhancement via the tone controls or contour controls on amps, other means, (pick up selection, strings, etc). BUT we've always found it is much easier to add something than to take it away from a response characteristic.
And we all have a different set of ears, so we do all hear things differently. And this is also why we do offer other cabinet designs with woofer, tweeter combinations as well.
There is certainly not one cabinet design for all players, which is was just that easy. But not...

Perfect explanation Jeff on the characteristics of the BA cabs! Just depends on which approach you prefer. Me, I'll take the smoother BA design and still be able to get the crisp top end if I want it added with EQ easily.

This exactly! I've tried other cabs that had an inherent voicing and I always found it difficult or impossible to EQ it out. The BA cabinets, to my ear, have a wonderful native voicing and I rarely use any EQ with them. However, I think it's much easier to add a voicing in than try to take it out.

DAcat, I'm curious to find out what you thought of the BA cabs. I'm torn between the NC 210T and the BA 210. I would eventually have two sets of whichever I choose.

I have the BA 15-3. The best cab I have ever used. Have had other makers of 410 and 210 cabs. I don't need a 410 right now and my BA 15-3 is deep and tight without muddiness. The dispersion of the line Array is exceptional in being able to hear mids and highs so much better. Very smooth and not harsh as some tweeters can be. For me there no lake of highs, and I have 3 active basses. This is the best 15 I have ever used and it less than 40 lbs. The level of fidelity and clarity are amazing to me. How well are you able to hear it live if standing only like a few feet in front of it? Do you use a stand or anything to lift it from the ground to get it closer to ear level? Alternatively is there an advantage with it being in contact to the ground instead? I'm super interested in this cab and have this exact subway head. The low frequency of 30 hz sounds awesome, and of course it sounds like the mids and highs are great with the array design.

I feel that there is probably not much difference between gen 1 and gen 2. My cab has more than enough clarity especially with the head and basses I use.

I'm sure the series 1 cab will not come up short for your needs, and getting those at a little reduced cost at this transitition time may help some players.
As I've mentioned, those are still premier cabs in the market. The Series 2, allows us to continue producing these cabs within their current price range and with some updated advantages going forward. Nothing at all wrong with these original cabs.

I've been wanting one of the 410 cabs forever and am actually getting back to Mass soon and I see there is a new model with better specs for the 410 cab, anyone familiar with the difference between the
