How hard could this be? (PP2+ splitting outlets)

Heh. That's what I did, and I taped everything to keep them isolated but there's always the worry that one day, zzzzzt. Smoke.
Only do what you are comfortable doing, but if the leads are arranged in such a way that they can't make electrical contact with each other it's just a matter of keeping them away from the rest of the world. I strongly recommend heat shrink instead of electrical tape. Once you get the heat shrink to tighten up around the cable it is a solid insulator and very tough. Any Radio Shack should have some available.
The shorter version is I don't know anyone that makes smaller daisy chain cables.
Here's a shot of a board I used for a while a few years back. The blue and red in the shot are heat shrink wrapped around the cable.

I spent my noon break at work googling for smaller daisy chains and solutions to terminate pluge properly, and ran across this daisy chain from Molten Voltage in a post at the Gear Page, which is unfortunately not really advertised anywhere: 4 outputs, with little removable caps.

I currently have 10 pedals powered by my PP2+, with 4 of them splitting two outlets using the voodoo labs splitters. I made sure that the total current draw for each group is less than the current output of those outlets and everything has been fine. All of my pedals are powered without any hum.
For pedals with top mounted power jacks and side mount audio jacks, that looks great. For anything else it looks like rage waiting to happen, IMO.
I added a couple of mini pedals (TC Ditto and TC Polytune Mini) to my PedalTrain Jnr bringing the total to 10 pedals so I needed a couple more power slots on the PedalPower 2+. I could have just gone with a daisy chain from one of the PP2 slots but I wanted to keep the board as neat as possible. After investigating making up my own splitter cable from parts I came up with this much easier solution. I ordered two of these daisy chains from eBay for $5 each:
9V DC 1A 6 Way Guitar Effect Pedal Daisy Chain Power Supply Cable
The quality of the daisy chain is just fine.
I created two splitters from each daisy chain by just snipping off the unwanted leads with sidecutters close to the plug to leave me with two 2-way splitters of just the right length for the board. This works particularly well for two pedals from the same manufacturer that are mounted next to each other on the board. Much neater than adding a full 6 or 8 way daisy chain to the board.
You start with a full 6 way daisy chain (f = female, m = male)
f---m---m---m---m---m---m
and end up with two 2-way splitters (and a useless female end):
f m---m---m m---m---m
I use one to power the Ditto and Polytune and another for the Flashback and Hall of Fame. I still have one unused daisy chain
cable which I'll either keep as is or hack it if I replace one of the larger pedals with two minis.
Note that I'm not using the female end. I'm simply going straight from the centre male plug into the PP2 out to two male plugs to the pedals. The fact that they are all right-angle plugs keeps the whole thing really neat and tidy. Two splitters for 5 bucks!

I was looking at that and thinking "genius" until I looked at the design for a second and realized that it would not only require added distance between pedals at the connection point, but would also require significant space on both sides of the power connection because of the junction point (or if you have a Pedaltrain you could have one side going down and one up, but that would create its own mess). I only own a few pedals that don't have the power jack right next to an input or output jack, so at best it would mean a really sloppy looking board. Dang!
I'm using 2 VL lifted splitters on my PP2 and run both cables to pedals that are connected together. I've not had any problems-maybe I've just been lucky as I'm not as electronics whiz.
Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but do the pedals HAVE to be one right after the other? I'm planning a board and the pedals that will need to share power are NOT next to each other. Specifically with the VL Ground lift splitters.
No, definitely not. The splitter plugs in the PP2+ and then you can plug standard VL power cables into each output of the splitter and run those wherever you need to run them.
