How important is delay to you

I'm thinking about getting rid of my delay pedal (can't mention what it is because then it will be considered a for sale thread). I don't use it for much other than just screwing around and even then I don't have much fun with it. How essential is delay to your board? I really don't think I would miss it.

A delay engaged with a momentary switch that can allow the trails to decay while bypassed would be ideal. If it had exp. pedal control over feedback and delay time too, and tap tempo, it would be my dream delay.

I've tried in the past to get someone to build me a custom blend box to take care of the first requirement, but discussions sort-of stalled eventually. I think it was maybe too difficult for the guy I was talking to, or too difficult to explain exactly how it should work.

Delay has been very important to me as a tool for psychedelic glitch doom dub. But that was before I started playing bass.

The pigtronix echolution will do all that except I think it won't do pedal controlled feedback. I'll have to double check mine, but otherwise it's what you want. I love mine but I like using delay fairly often.

What I think I'm gonna do it take the delay off my board and put it in my closet for a week and see if I miss it. Then again, there were 2 months when I didn't use it because I didn't want to drive to GC to get a patch cable, I didn't seem to miss it then.

What about something like the Hold function on the Boss delays? You could get it modded for the expression pedals to control everything else.

I use it. Not a lot, mostly intros and on the stinger of some songs. In fact, I use two, an Electrix Mo-FX and a Danelectro Dan-Echo.

If it can then I want one! I've got a Stereo Memory Man with Hazarai that I love, but I find myself wanting more delay pedals (not replacements - additional!

I only turn it on when tapping.

I pretty much suck at tapping and it does make me sound better.

When set to Tap Tempo mode, the Echolution has a maximum delay time of 20 seconds and a minimum delay time of 10ms.

Awesome. Now I just need to learn to tap my foot twice in 10ms!

Looking at their blurb, it doesn't mention it having a momentary switch to engage/disengage the effect - it seems that switch is just for the tap tempo, and the external trigger is for the reverse and loop modes. Can anyone tell me any different?

Exp. control over delay time is great, but I really want to do messy swells with the feedback too. Phew! I don't think this pedal is quite right for me.

Kev, I think the Boss DD-7 is something you might want to consider.

As far as delay goes, I love my DD-6 and I can't live without a delay pedal on my board. In fact I am thinking of getting another pedal that has delay function.

I play ambient/shoegaze/post-rock so delay is essential

I use my delay often in my indie rock band. I have a SMMw/H and I use the reverb and echo frequently as well as the normal delay. I use the other settings for ambient background noise

bk....it will do the pedal controlled feedback but you have to have it modded by Pigtronix first. I was going to have that done before I decided to try a different pedal. Glad you're diggin it.

Me personally, I love delay. I use different delays for chordal swells, short delays for drum and bass sounds and reverse delay as well (that one's my favorite). I love delay for bass, but you have to know where and when to use it. I think it's still uncharted territory for bass. I have the Empress Effects Superdelay, but it's quite expensive and more than most people would need. It's perfect for my needs though. I only buy effects that I hear myself using before I get them....if you can't hear places to use it than let it go and find something else.

Mine is an indispensable part of my arsenal. Lines I have written that require delay sound hollow and meaningless without it. It can really screw things up though, has to be used properly otherwise it turns into a giant mess (in the bad way).

With my noise crap it is a necessity.
