We're a blues band, we play both covers and originals. We are from Minnesota and play mostly there but sometimes play in Wisconsin, Iowa and Michigan. For bar gigs we do 3 hours of music and 1 hour of breaks...either 4-45 minute sets with 20 minute breaks or 3-1 hour sets with 30 minute breaks (the venue's choice). Festival gigs depend on what the promotors want.

Usually 2 x 45 minute sets with a 20 minute interval

One band I'm in started doing Politician, mainly 'coz I can play it and sing it. Surprisingly it's gone over really well the 4 or 5 times I've done it.
Addressing the main topic, normally it's three and a half to four hours and we'll do 45 mins to an hour per set, with a 15 or 20 minute break, and as we get near the end of the night we'll figure out the last brackets so we finish with a killer 45.
Some want four and a half hours and New Years Eve they normally want five hours. I've recently told the bands I work with if they want to do more than four hours, find a sub bass player for those gigs.
The original act I work with (a singer songwriter) does around an hour. And I get paid a LOT more for his gigs than the cover gigs.

We usually play two one hour and forty five minutes sets, with a short break. The band leader hates to take breaks. If we didn't complain, he would play four hours straight

Festivals: 1-2 hours, no breaks.
Wineries: 4 hours, three 10 minute breaks. Usually these run something like 1-5PM. I used to play another restaurant or club gig after these pretty often too.
