How long does it take TI Flats to break in?

I think what throws folks off TI's is that they expect the higher tension of standard flats and are thus put off from the low tension. And yes, they aren't for everyone, but i love them and recommend them to anyone wanting to try flats after having played rounds for expressly their low tension and ease of use in transitioning. Can anyone compare the tension of ti flats vs dr lo riders? or any other roundwound?

I keep seeing they are noodly/loose feeling etc. They have exactly the sound I want, but have always been put off by the price and the fact that I use a pick quite a bit.

I'd say lighter, looser feel than the nickel low riders. I've run both on my Dingwall Super P.

As far as price goes, I think the TI flats are totally worth the money. You'll have them for years. I've pulled sets of TI's off a bass I was selling (the buyer didn't want them, so I knocked some off the price) and reinstalled them on a different bass. They had a couple years on them, and they still sounded great for years after. (Better than great, they were already broke in!)

A pick is no problem. The palm muted pick sound is really nice.

The Infeld superalloy round wounds are really nice, too.

so this is why primarily flats players that grew up on labellas/chromes think they feel floppy?

I grew up on nickels and guitar strings so everything feels stiff to me

(yes, insert joke, lol)
