At the bass player get-together, I had the distinct pleasure to get ahold of Muggsy's fretless Music Man. This bass had such a low action that you didn't feel the string hit the fingerboard anywhere on the neck. Low, LOW, riduculously low. Viewed from the side, the strings looked like they were being capo'ed during a setup. There was a tiny, almost inaudible buzz at the first position Bb on the A string but that was it. It played like buttah!! You could even dig in fairly hard without a lot of clacking and other noise. Even JT was surprised by the action and, before I saw this MM, I would have considered HIS action to have been low. I looked at the neck closely and other than it's finish (poly or epoxy over lined rosewood) there wasn't anything remarkable about it's attitude or straightness.
It was, in a word, PERFECT!
