How many basses are too many?

I have 6 and because they are not the right ones, its both too many and not enough.
Sixteen thousand, eight hundred and fifty four.

Five. After that they have to look similar enough so that the wife doesn't notice.
I have 4, and although I've seen a couple I'd really like, including a beautiful Heritage bass, I just can't bring myself to buy a fifth. I had five, and I sold one simply because it was just too many for me. So, I sold the one I played the least.

Man, he was awesome. I saw him with the Allmans and with Gov't Mule. His tone with The Mule was SICK
I had only one since 1995 and i got a new one last august. Now i just play the new one.
I find that when I have more than about three, things start getting crowded, but that's more a space limitation than anything. If I'd get a decent bass rack to store them efficiently, I could probably do better.
I have one too many as I never play the 4.
If I trade it for a fretless 5er/sell it then buy a fretless 5er, I wouldn't have too many basses but I'd still have 3.

How many pair of shoes are too many pair? Different for everyone.

For my needs, I have a Precision V and a Dimension Deluxe V and they make me happy and I gig them a lot.
I sold off a lot of gear because after my basement flooded, I didn't want the liability of expensive gear just layin' around at risk of damage or just not getting played.
BUT, some folks use the numerous basses & gear they have and they're cool to look at. Just invite me for the guitar party. I dig 'em.

I watch American Pickers, and some people build whole mini towns to house there collection of "treasures"
When I buy a warehouse downtown it may indicate the beginning of an issue.

3 fretted 5 strings
3 fretted 4 strings
2 fretless 4 strings
All vastly different

Not if you choose to pick it up at a local store (GC) or opt to pickup it up at a fedex office...... or if your lucky enough to be employed at a place that won't mind personal deliveries
As far as OP.... nothing wrong with having too much of a good thing!!!
