Total 7

1986 Hohner B2A (My first bass!)
1972 Fender Jazz
2008 Fender Marcus Miller Signature Jazz Bass (w/ John East Marcus Retro and Lollar J PUPs)
2009 Fender Jaguar Bass (SGD Jazzbuckers)
2002 Fender PB-70US CIJ Precision Bass (w/ Dimarzio "P")
2012 Musicman Bongo 4
2012 Kala Ubass

I've been downsizing to 3:

Fender P57RI with flats
Custom passive J with rounds
Active 5-string Sandberg JM with rounds

They are all I need really, but I'm contemplating another P fitted with rounds, for the rawk.

really had to think about it lol. I have owned well over 30, but have sold most of them, started in 1980.
current collection:
2 vintage mid 60's Hagstrom 4 strings (the SG lookin' double cutaway one)
2 custom 5 string fretlesses, both designed by me, one built by me
Ibanez soundgear 5
Ibanez soundgear 6
Tune 6 (handmade in Japan, where I picked it up)
10 string carbon graphite Chapman Stick
custom 2 string slide bass (made by me)
I own a lot of other things but I guess those are all you could really classify as basses. I do have a p bass body (plywood, Memphis) in my shop (if anyone wants it) so, that makes 9.5!

formerly owned many cheap and some very nice basses, like a vintage early 60's Hofner I foolishly let go of for almost nothing long ago (will kick myself forever for that), and an Alembic Persuader, (only had 1 pick up and 4 strings).

Right now, three:

Mike Lull M5V with TI flats
Roscoe SKB-3005 with nickel rounds
Roscoe SKB-3005 fretless with nickel rounds

With these three I can cover the range of tones that I want, and they all look nice and play well with low action. I'm always kind of shopping, but there's really not much else I need.

8 total, and none more than $800. I guess if you put them all together I could be playing on a Fodera or something :-) However one bass won't cut it for me. My next bass is going to be a custom made joint. I owe it to myself at least once. I'm getting a Brubaker KXB5 Custom.

The GAS has attacked since my last post here, now I'm up to 16 and one more "on consignment". The recent additions are in bold:

2005 Ric 4003 Blueburst (color of the year)
Squier Affinity P "Franken Squier", heavily modded (fretless Allparts Jazz neck, SD pickups, Schaller bridge and tuners, Warmoth PG)
Fender Modern Player Tele
1967 Fender Coronado II (Antigua finish)
1963 Fender Jazz (Burgundy Mist)
1966 Fender P (Fiesta Red)
1971 Fender Musicmaster

Fender Kingman Acoustic
1973 Attila Balogh Odyssey
1967 Raven teardrop hollowbody
Kala U bass Mahogany, Aquila strings
Birdsong Sadhana
Birdsong 8th anniversary Embrace
Bruce Johnson AMB-2 scroll bass
Grove P51 crate top "Tele-blaster" semi-hollow
Harmony H22 reissue with TI flats

Still a couple more that I'm gassing for (Hofner 500/1 German violin, Ray Ramirez EUB, Rob Allen Mouse).

Funny thing is the wifey thinks I only have 5-6. Will be an "interesting" conversation once she finds out about the other 10!

Forgot to add I also bought another amp since last time:

Mesa Boogie Carbine M3 combo in special order burgundy Tolex

I have 4 at the moment.

Left to right:
1) LTD TA-600: I traded a neighbor my ol' 90's Ibanez 506 for this to help him out with getting into 6's. I out grew this phase in my life but it brings up some fun memories.
2) Ibanez Ashula: 4 strings fretted (E, A, D, G) 2 strings fretless (D and G). I'm thinking BEAD for the low strings and flats for the fretless. Not sure of the new tuning for the fretless.
3) Carvin LB76: "The Blue Beast" weighs a ton, plays like a dream, and sounds amazing. This is the one I play out with.
4) Squier P-Bass Special: Between the satin finish and flats this one gets a lot of love 'cause its a really nice player. It also sits next to my computer desk. :smug:

This thread is just another excuse to show this pic again. :hyper:
