12 - Academy ABG fretlees short scale (wich i leave for my 2 and a half years old son to play.
I also have a drum and a Stratocaster, and keys from softwares.

I'm up to a completely unjustifiable seven:

2003 DiPinto Belvedere semi-hollow;
2003 American Series Jazz;
2004 American Series Precision;
2006/7 G&L L-1500;
MIM Fender franken-fretless Precision;
2007 G&L SB-2; and
2008 American Standard Jazz V.

Realisically, I could easily get by with the two J's and the SB-2, but the Precision and L-1500 get substantial playing time also. The others could go, so I'm hoping to thin the herd down to five this year.

'06 Fender HWY1 Precision Bass (Sunburst)
'05 Fender MIM Standard Jazz Bass (Black)
'03 Squier MB-4 (Slate Grey)
'05 Michael Kelly Dragonfly 5-string Fretless Acoustic/Electric (Amber)

thats the arsenal now. may thin to three if i can sell the MK.

'82 Precision '62 RI w/EMG PJs
'08 MIA Jazz
'99 Squier P-Bass Special (strung with Rotosound flats)

I bought the Squier as a backup, but after a good deal of tweaking (deepened nut slots, shimmed neck, the usual truss rod and bridge saddle adjustments) it plays just as well as the other two.

I'm up to 12 and I've only been playing for 4 months (which I know is ridiculous but I can't help myself) But 2 are up for sale. (Hope I don't buy 2 more to replace them)
