How many gb to get on a phone

You can always get a micro sd card. My phone is 32g and I have a 16g card in it

Depends on the phone... if it's an iPhone, there's no external storage, so get the biggest possible. I've historically always gotten the 64GB model, and this time got the 32GB to save a hundred bucks. Just the other day, I couldn't install iOS 7.1 without deleting a few songs.

Just keep in mind, you're probably going to be living with the phone for two years (if on contract) probably a good idea to try to plan ahead if you use a bunch of apps. My mom on the other hand uses a 16GB without any problems, but only has about 150 songs, no videos, and a couple of apps on her iPhone.

If it's an iphone, filling it to capacity slows it down. 32gb would probably be best.

It may be crucial to add that I have a gs4 and this is an iPhone 3gs I'm using for running,gym,hikes,gigs etc. So its only like 60 bucks on ebay

The space taken by songs depends on the file type and the bitrate which it's recorded at.

For MP3s we also used to take 128kbps to be the minimum to aim for, these would take about 1Mb per minute.

My personal rule of thumb is you should always opt for more memory than you think you will need. It comes in handy. Trust me.

I only have 8 gb, and over 600 songs, so I don't have a whole lot of other stuff on my phone because I want to add more songs.

Quick update...have 1245 songs 3 movies 5 tv shows and about one GB game and have 5 GB left so 32 is working okay

Except the fact I hate iPhone but just using it as an iPod (its the 4 so got it cheap)

It's rare I need to take that much with me. Everything can be streamed these days. If I am going to be unable to stream I may add in some content but 90% of the time I can. I have 32GB but I have a Nokia with a 20MP camera. Those files are big. Enough room for apps and pics I haven't backed up and that's about it.
