How many gigs did you play in 2016?

Weddings and private parties are a whole lot better than bar gigs, no doubt. I only played two bar gigs in 2016, and that's just fine with me. There may be more of those in 2017, which isn't necessarily a step forward.

I really want to focus a lot more on quality in 2017 over quantity.

My band were discussing this recently.

The drummer, who takes 90% of our bookings, asked us if we would mind doing less gigs next year. Get rid of the crappy bar gigs (some are enjoyable but others not so much) and concentrate on the private functions. Go for it was our response, we would much rather do one well paid function than 2 crappy low pay bar gigs.

We are at right about 100 as a full band this year. Really wide range of gigs including everything from some for- fun bar gigs, several weddings, several more private parties, the Riverbend music festival in Chattanooga, and a couple weeks ago we had the pleasure of opening up for the Blues Survivors at a good sized concert venue that's part of the Choo Choo complex downtown. The Blues Survivors include Anson Funderburgh and Little Charlie Baty - some high- caliber guitar work from those guys! Very fun gig and well attended.

I was only able to play 1 gig as a bass player this year . I moved to my present location almost two years ago and I have found that the Punk/ rock scene in Nola is lacking. I was able to land a gig playing Guitar on the regular but its not what I want to do long term...

Hi,

A total of 95 paying engagements for me, performances and rehearsals between five bands and a Broadway type revue show. This doesn't count the 14 Sundays I played on our worship team at church, with the 14 requisite rehearsals.

I just tallied up the mileage for my 95 gigs and drove 8,160 miles to all my gigs in my little Astro Van. At 54 cents a mile that's a $4406.40 deduction. Every little bit helps.
