One more, so to speak, if Fender Japan will ever release a Junior collection SS P bass. I don’t really have a pure P SS, and I’m more or less transitioning to SS.

Got a mini P, but it’s not 30”, a Wattplower 2, it’s a P! it’s a reverse P! But not a pure P.
And a JBS, but it’s 34”. Love it, and it’s will be my only 34” keeper, really would like to have a straight P 30” though.

C’mon FMIJ, release a Junior collection P, and I’ll be

Which strings with which fretboard? 😎
The one with flatwounds is on the rosewood P Bass and the wounds are on the maple P Bass. The rosewood one is a 1997 70s reissue. I bought it used a few years ago and it had rounds on it but I love flats on guitars and basses. I originally had Chromes which I liked but I recently put on LaBella Low Tension Flats. The one with maple is a Player in Buttercream I think they call it. It was used and I got it a few months ago. It has rounds that came with it but I can't be certain of the brand. I guess they are Rotosounds. The previous owner must have been a fan of The Clash and Paul Simonon because it had a splatter pickguard like Simonon had on the one he smashed. Splatter I mean it's a black pickguard but has splattered paint of various colors. I like it. It looks good but I may eventually switch to a plain black guard.

I love P basses and I've owned around six, but I don't need any. I still have a G&L SB-2, which is fantastic, but it's for sale locally because I played it so rarely.

The reasons: (1) I play fives almost exclusively, and I don't have a P5; (2) I normally prefer J basses anyway; and (3) when I need a thicker, heavier tone, I have a G&L M-2500. Also, one of my J basses is a G&L JB with Lace Sensor Man O' War pickups, which sits in a mix almost like a P bass. But I haven't played that bass on stage in years, so I might sell it.

I am open to getting a P5, but I don't like the 9.5" radius on Fenders and some others. I almost took the plunge on a Sandberg a few years ago, and I wish I had. I also wish G&L would make a five-string version of the LB-100 or SB series.

Just the one for me. Whether it’s a ‘51-style P (really liked the Squier Classic Vibe ‘50s Precision) or a 70s-style P complete with ashtray and pickup cover (Antigua would be my number one finish choice).

Whichever comes my way first will be the one.

But I’m not in the biggest rush to find one… I have more pressing GAS at the moment…
