How many rehearsal days a week?

We are an all original and put in 2 days a week (Mondays and Thursdays).

Usually just one if that. When I was in two bands at the same time (1 cover + 1 original) the original band got together on Mondays and Wednesdays and the cover band practiced on Tuesdays and played just about every weekend. The schedule was a real bitch, but I had chops back in those days, I tell ya what!

Usually one, but when we're writing we get together and jam on the songs we're working on 2-4 times a week. When we're just rehearsing for shows we'll usually have a session to make sure we keep everything tight once a week.

Cover band I've been in for over a year has had 1 practice in that year. If everyone learns their parts and comes prepared... adding new music is no problem.

Used to rehearse 3 times a week. 5 when I was in high school. But I think a band shouldn't practice more then they play. Things should be done in phases. Original (write,rehearse,record, rehearse, play out) Covers (learn at home, rehearse 1-2 times, then gig).

My band meets twice a week, mainly because its hard to pick up where you left off after a week of not seeing each other.
In my experience, i think that originals bands need to meet a little more, because you need more time feeding and building off your band members. If your doing covers, it's kind of like meet, decide what you want to play, learn it at home, and work on details next week.

Same here. We consider gigs paid rehearsals.

Cover bands - no need to practice.
And you should be ready to fill in as a sub for other cover bands.

Original bands - practice all the time. Break it up into a couple of people getting together at a time to lock things down. Bass and drum rehearsal to lock down rhythm. Bass and keyboards to lock down harmonic contents, when to pedal, don't always play the root. Everyone so you're not all doing fills at the same time.

In my band we usually just work out vocal harmonies and figure out how the guitars should play off each other seperately. Me and the drummer develop our lines while we're running songs and jamming. Splitting any more than that gets tedious and redundant.

depends how much we're gigging. When we got back from recording our last album we were hitting it pretty hard at 3 or 4 times a week. When we're gigging every weekend - that usually drops to once a week, or once every two weeks.

So, because you rehearse more you are more serious? Hmm. I love posts like this. Some bands are quite serious and barely rehearse at all. Members come with parts down and ready to go. We can add 10-12 tunes to our set list in about 45 minutes. We don't need to rehearse that much.

Now, we are just second income, do it for fun guys, but we play 6-8 nights a month. I suppose if we were trying to "make it" we would be more aggressive with rehearsal, but as we are old, married and settled, we find what we do works. I also think that we are relatively serious about our bands.
