I used to work for an ambulance company and I would come in at 6:30 AM after working a double shift the day before and this one MM ***** would tell me to "smile, the customers....." yeah its 6:30 Am and I got 2 hours sleep and DO YOU SEE ANY CUSTOMERS IN OUR DISPATCH OFFICE?! Another time I came in 10 minutes late cause I was upstairs dropping a duece...I got a freaking speech....So yeah thats why I hate MM.

I dunno, I think I am all of the above. :)

I own (co-own but own sounds cooler) a motorcycle dealership.
So I am a boss (to the mechanic I have employed), store manager, salesman, white collar (administration), blue collar (mechanic, managing stockroom, logistics),...
and the most fun thing of all: test pilot. :D

i've been a worker bee at the same company , most of my life ,
and just recently purchased the company .

i'm not rich by any stretch of the imagination ,
and i know all too well what it's like to get my fingernails dirty ...

Private sector supervisors are ineligible to join unions as stipulated by the NLRA (I believe it was the Taft-Hartley amendment that ultimately barred them from collectively organizing). It's actually a big issue in hospitals, because almost anyone, even an LPN, can be considered a "supervisory." (e.g., telling an orderly what to do).

That's not so much the case in Europe. For instance, it's not uncommon for foremen and managers to be unionized in Germany. In addition, employees often have more input into the managerial direction of the companies that they work in through codetermination and joint boards. In America, there's usually been a huge schism between labor and management. The one big exception was Saturn, but that failed for a number of reasons.

Personally, I'd like to see a labor relations system in America similar to Europe. With the new global economy that we're in and the economy in the crapper (which I'm sure offshoring has helped augment), both management and labor are going to have to come up with new ways to work together in a unitary movement towards a better economy. Labor's probably going to have to give some concessions and tighten its belt, and management's going to have to learn how deal with labor in a way to treat people as more than a commodity, especially if the Employee Free Choice Act goes through.

I'm technically a worker bee although I work in such a niche area and am the only person in my position so I don't exactly have people breathing down my neck all day.
