How much do you charge

Like the title says i was just curious on how much you guys charge to play for someone ,lets say local or even if u had to travel up to 2-3 hours with all your bass gear

Depends on the gig (how much time you had to put in - I assume this is a sub gig), and how much they are getting. In general, I want at least my full percent of what the band is getting paid, and don't go out for less than $100.

Depends on the gig. You usually don't get to ask what you want with bars.
Bar gigs pay$400 with 80 miles to gig. Agent takes 10%.
Band splits $360. No matter if it's a trio, quartet ... $300 for local bar gigs.
Private functions maybe more, depends on the venue.
I try and get $100 a gig but it varies a lot and there is very little work.

The $100 seems to be a recurring theme in here. Pickup or sub gigs: one Benjamin minimum. The two exceptions to that rule would be benefits, or low-impact gigs with area musicians. I've played quite a few benefits and in those instances, music is my contribution to the cause. No pay expected. Where local musicians (read: friends) are involved, I'll play for little or nothing just for fun of it.

Actually, some of my favorite gigs are the little slap-together affairs where the only pay promised is a bar-b-q plate and a couple beers. I get to hang out with friends, make some music, and since there's typically no overarching expectation of sonic perfection in those situations, it takes the pressure off and allows everybody to reconnect with the simple joy of playing.

I don't know about anybody else, but I make a point of playing out twice per week - even if both occasions are just open mics. It keeps the chops up, and I enjoy the spontaneity of jam sessions. That said, I don't know how those of you in heavily pay-to-play areas cope with that scene. Knocking around for fun while helping a place to increase its bar traffic doesn't bother me in the least, but paying for the privilege? All I can say is I'm glad that trend hasn't hit this area yet.

Well im a keyboardist fulltime and bass i do on the side normally local i won't play less than 100$ but most local gigs i get between 150-250, but since i've gotten very good on bass people are started to call me to play bass too,i just wasnt sure on a good price

My band books $1000 minimum for clubs/bars, and that's in addition to production (sound and lights). Weddings we're coming in a little low, and hoping to make it up on volume, at $3k.

I have never been paid in advance and the idea seems crazy to me. Your lucky if you get paid at the end of the gig but it's usually the ride home in my experience.

I ask for atleast half upfront if im traveling a good distance, i been cheated plenty of times before and i learned my lesson

I've done some sub gigs for free if it's music and or people I like... If it's just a job I ask for $50 or 25 percent plus 50 cents a mile, whichever is more...

If you play originals the answer is at worst you pay the venue, at best maybe $20-$30 per band member+drink tickets.

My current band is a 6 piece tribute. We play casinos, large clubs and festivals, 90 minute set for a minimum of $1,500 plus food. P.A. and sound engineer are provided by the venue.

Yes. The band hasn't traveled to play. There have been some requests but we're all working day jobs and it's tough to do an away show.

Sine you have the experience as a Keyboardist; you should gauge your compensation the same way. Unless of course, the types of gigs you're playing Bass are that much different.

Local gig I won't leave the house for less than $150 cash. Travel gigs much more and are negotiated
