How much does browsing TB contribute to your GAS?

Before I joined this site 8 years ago I never owned more than 4 basses at a time. I currently own 22. Short scales, medium scales, long scales, actives, passives, some with flats, some with rounds. I basically have any tone option I would ever need completely covered. Yet, I see something here almost daily that will get my GAS going.
I’ve officially sworn off anymore purchases for the time being, but this place doesn’t make it easy.
How much does TB fuel your gas?

With that being said, my answer is "not at all". My personal max was (if I recall correctly) 14 and that was years before the Internet - let alone TB - became a thing.

In one year of browsing TB has made me buy 3 basses, flats for all of them with more coming to try out different flavors, two pickguards, a new neck, a couple of pickups, an amp.

It's FOMO - Fear of Missing Out. I pay most attention to the double-bass side, where we obsess endlessly about strings and bows ... and that's really expensive.

None. I've been around long enough and seen enough to where these days it's more of an intellectual choice than the previous 'hot-bothered-I GOTTA get that one' fevered rush.

And honestly, there's only so many woods, pickups, neck profiles, scale lengths, and hardware that are common to so many, it's hard to find something that advances the instrument or something that evokes an emotional resonance in me.

And these days, you really have to work hard to waste your money on a truly bad instrument or amp, the quality of both from cheap to the 'you gotta be kidding me' price range is just so high as a whole vs. the Pleistocene Age when I began playing. Back then, you could buy unbelievable junk all day long any which way you turned.
