How much does Ernie Ball care about fakes?

That is just so screwed up that an actual shop would be pulling this crap. You should have taken some pics. If you are correct and these are fakes, it would be a service to make people aware of this "shop". It really ticks me off how these phonies operate with impunity because they are sheltered within a community that has no stake in whether a business is selling legitamate goods or not. Actually, quite the contrary. It is a good chunk of the community that supports the fraudulent businesses. Think about how many other name brand products, like shoes, handbags and DVD's are being faked and sold off at that market. People aren't just turning a blind eye to it, they are supporting it in many cases.

My first reaction was to take some pix. But, I am not the police. So I think the more reasonable situation was to report it to EB. If they care, then they can do something about it. If they don't care, I don't any real interest other than to protect the community against being ripped off.
But in this case, the bass was so hideous that anyone with 2 brain cells to rub together would not be fooled.
I mean, seriously... A square plug cut and patch on the body? The nut hanging crookedly and not fitting in the slot? A huge knot through which was drilled the hole for a neck mounting screw?
It was just sooo bad.
Now, if they ask me to go back and take photos, I may or may not. You never know what you'll run into these days.
I also didn't want to spook them into taking it off the floor in case someone may want to go there for an enforcement.
So EB now has all the info and can act if they choose.
:-)

Its a pretty laid back atmosphere... I frequent it from time to time and its refreshing to hear from the man himself (Sterling Ball) address issues and new projects directly.

That place is far from laid back. You do so much as mention another brand on there (like you are doing a comparison of two instruments while researching a potential purchase) and their panties quickly fill with sand.

+1.

If you so much as mention the thought of wanting to change the pickups and/or pre-amp in your Stingray people will treat you like are about to commit a genocide.

I would consider the EBMM to be some of the worst forums for fanboys on the internet... you ever been to the Fender forums? That is laid back.

I'll give this a +1 as well

I get roasted comparing their own models to each other & stating my personal thoughts on which one I subjectively like more & why

Oh well

Still like to play em!

A few years back at NAMM I found a couple of blatant Music Man knock offs from an import vendor in the basement and pointed them out to the EB folks upstairs. The guitars were gone in under a day.

That happens w most of the copies. They put em out the first day, then hide them till the last. Noticed it w the rics a few others.

And you expect it to be any different - jeez it's a manufacturers forum.

But anyway you are wrong - this is the worst forum on the internet for fanboys - those of Fender instruments who pile into every thread about every subject saying how they couldn't possibly bring themselves to play anything but their beloved Fender..............

The difference is that on TB we can have both sides of any position, on the EB forum everything but the most sugarcoated brown nosing is censored! :) btw, the EB forum has not always been that way, it used to be a fairly open forum with all kinds of interesting discussions. Sometime in the early-mid 2000s, various members of the EB staff started posting regularly and it quickly evolved to what we have now.

Warwick forums are not like that. Neither is the Fender forum. There will always be tons of Fender fanboys, look at their prevalence in music. EBMM however, it's like they are used a set of knee pads with every purchase!

I think a lot of people who frequent the Musicman forum would disagree with you guys but you are entitled to your points of view. What I find difficult to understand is why a few of you are so hostile towards Musicman.

And this thread should get back on topic - which is how much do Musicman care about fakes.

Hostile?! Lol. You must be one of "those guys" over there ;-)
