How time flies.

Never really gave that much thought ... I might have stuck with martial arts (shotokan karate for years, and I was actually quite good at it too - aikido later on but my heart wasn't in it and I didn't stick with it for long) or I might have spent more time behind a pc (something I devote too much time to as it is) and reading comic books.

But definitely not restoring old cars :D

I dunno maybe find work as an EVIL CLOWN?

:eyebrow: ... After all isn't that what most people most peoples image is of bass players anyway?

It's been 44 years this year that I started playing. My master plan when I was 16 was to be an English teacher. Instead, I wound up playing in clubs for 25 years and never did get that English degree. Today I do communications and play bass, but no longer for aliving. Having no degree hasn't made my life any less pleasureable. But I think I'd have missed a lot of the good things if I'd never played bass.

I took up bass as a hobby 7 yrs ago-best mid-life crisis I can imagine, and one of my most satisfying life decisions to date. If I hadn't taken it up I'd be spending a lot more time listening to old vinyl while smoking cigars and drinking Cognac, and probably a little more cycling as well. I have no intention of playing less bass, but I still do my fair share of the other stuff.

I took up playing bass many (many, many, let's not go there!) years ago, and developed an interest in cars a few years later. Both hobbies compete...big time...for your free time. At present, music is on top, the old car waits. And I ride the Harley when I have time. Music is: less aggrevating than working on the old car, and: safer than riding the Harley. I hope I never have to give up playing bass.

Fished allot. I did it for years and used to compete and was rather good at it. Today i hardly have time, music takes all my spare time. When i do go i fishing now I usally take my soon to be 5 year old Daughter and help her .:)
