How to carry a bass on a kayak tips/tricks

I just returned from a 10 day kayak trip and I brought my bass along, it is completely unscathed, we used these massive 2 person cargo kayaks made by destiny kayak co.. Now, for any reason at all, if you are taking your bass on a kayak trip, here's what to do, put it in a padded gig bag, wrap it in 2 garbage bags, strap it onto the front or middle, not the back, cargo covers with the elastics that hold them on, this works surprisingly well, and this is more of a success story then a how-to, but that's how to carry a bass over the water, on a budget.

It is indeed an acoustic bass, it was an ibanez aeb10e, I kayaked all around southern puget sound stopping at multiple water trail sites here in washington.

Bring a banjo and leave the bass at home...
I kayak a lot but never took a bass with me.

As a friend says, the "why" question occurs to me. I can think of a lot of things I'd take on a kayak trip besides a bass
