How to count this.

Hey! He even got the flags right ;). The reorganization of the rests in the second stave is interesting.

He doesn't always get it right. This is just on page 5...

Interesting thread. When I first looked at the OP and started to read the rhythm I saw the note values, eighth, quarter, but quickly switched to seeing the rhythm and beat. It happened before getting through the bar. I think this happens when you really recognize how patterns of notes work, like reading words instead of letters. A phrase of sixteenth, sixteenth, eighth is going to have a specific sound/phrase even if it follows an eighth, quarter or half note. I thought the OP's line was very easy to read as it appeared. Its hard to count if you expect a strong downbeat on 2. This is a good thread and I'm enjoying the comments. Thanks guys!
