How to delete alerts

I just got with the program and added a keyword alert yesterday. I have been receiving the alerts without any problem.

However, when I go to my Alerts and select "show all", I don't see any way to delete the alerts. I have marked them all as read, but they remain. I can see after a few weeks, there will be hundreds of them.

I don't want to delete the actual Keyword Alert, I just want to delete the alerts that have been sent to me.

What am I missing here?

Alerts are not meant to be deleted - they just get marked "read" and go off into the abyss
