Hi I have a Nirvana bass tab book and I was playing along and then I wondered how to get his bass tone and what strings he uses. Any help would be awesome! Also why does he hold the pick somewhat side ways? Thanks.

Doesn't he hold the pick between his thumb & middle finger?

A friend gave me a set of Lemmy picks, but TBH I prefer V-Picks:

I've got about a dozen of them, because I buy them out of guilt when I go to the local music store, try out basses, guitars, and amps, & then...

a solid state amp, a rat pedal and and pick should get you close.
