First I have searched but can't find the specific answer. I'm currently bandless so I thought it would be fun to record some stuff. As the title states I'd like to "get my feet wet" with audio & video recording.
I know I could do the small mixer thing, DI the bass into a channel & put the computer/mp3 player into the 2-track in or a channel. Main out to the camera & monitor thru headphones. Upload to the computer.
But I'm thinking of "buy once, cry once" & investing in an interface, or even a digital mixer (w/the plus of live PA use) that comes w/a DAW.
My specific question is can you play along with a song in the DAW while also recording yourself playing with the song? Since the tune to be covered is an mp3/wav file I'm assuming it can be imported into the DAW? Then main out to camera & monitor via the interface or skip the interface main out & sync the audio & camera in video software.
Are these the ways to go? Are there better ways? Suggestions, thoughts, ideas welcome please.
