How To Route DI live?

Ok so, I have a sansamp bddi and I'm going to use the XLR output to go straight to the sound guy. Do I plug in the head from the parallel output or the regular output? I would use the sansamp as a direct box and my head and cab as a stage monitor.

I don't have it but IMHO pararel output to your head amp is to use if you don't want the sansamp to 'colored' your bass tone (just like if you connect your bass straight to the stage bass amp), while the (regular) 'output' is when you want it to be colored/affected the sound by the sansamp before put it in your amp. CMIIW

Blues Dog is correct.

The parallel out is a hard wired connection off the input. You're signal will pass through with out any effect. for the pedal. If you happen to another effect, say a chorus, BEFORE the Sansamp that effect WILL be passed to the XLR. Also, if you happen to have a pedal AFTER the sans amp it will NOT effect the XLR.

The "regular" output is just like another pedals output, with effect.

Also I have a heard that has a direct interface. If I go straight from the head to the soundguy, will sound still come out of my cab?

if your amp head has DI output, yes. But didn't you said that you "are going to use the (sansamp) XLR output to go straight to the sound guy and you would use the sansamp as a direct box and your head and cab as a stage monitor" ?

If your head has a DI then then you can use that, instead or with depending on how you run it.

If you run it using the regular out, remember it's a preamp. Watch your output volume on the pedal. Try to match it with the regular output of your bass (this is called unity gain, the in and out volumes are the same).

But based on how you said you wanted to run it, this won't matter.

Yeah I'm probably going to do that. The cab will still make noise correct? Sorry if I sound dumb. I'm new to this. Haha

If your amp head has DI output, and we're not talking about miking a cabinet nor 'speaker emulator thing' etc,.. then you have two choice of how you send your bass signal to the 'sound guy', from your sansamp XLR out, or from your amp DI out. Anyway you chose, the cab is still going to be your bass monitor.
refering to your original question in post #1, The question is, would you like the sansamp to color/affect your 'bass monitor sound' (your amp+cabinet) or no?
If you answer yes, then you'd connect sansamp 'regular' output to your amp input.
If no, then the sansamp's pararel output to your amp input.

Thanks so much, yeah I want the amp to be colored with the effect so I'll just go from the output into my amp and direct in from my XLR output
