Hey there, quick question.
So I like a nice boomy, thumpy sound that is felt as much as heard, and I found the right amps for the job - an Acoustic 450 and a 270, running through Acoustic 2x15 and 1x18 cabs. I've found when running the whole rig together, it is, not surprisingly, pretty boomy and loud - which is how I like it.
However, I also like to play thumpy hollow short scales with flats, and I think I've gone and over done it - when using both rigs together I lose too much articulation for even my undiscriminating tastes. I've tried all sorts of EQing but I just can't figure out how to water down the mud.
I've found that the Rane DC-24 may be what I'm looking for - which is mostly to rein in my rampant lows, keeping them fat but reasonably distinct. I also like that it has two channels, so I can send an out to each amp and tweak their EQs separately.
But I've read that the DC-24 won't work too well if I'm plugging into it directly (though their manual doesn't say anything about that). So then I started looking at EQs, and then rack spaces, and all of a sudden all this extra gear looks a bit much to take on - too much money, too much stuff.
What's my best option here? Thanks in advance...
