How to set GT-6B into Manual mode?

Does anyone know how to set a Boss GT-6B into Manual mode?

I know I have done something like this in the past but for the life of me I cannot find instructions on how to achieve this.
I just want to set it up into a Manual/Stompbox mode instead of the default patch mode.

Hi there,
Its been awhile since I've had my 6B but you can turn individual effects on and off just by stepping on the footpedals 1-4. Just select a patch and you are there. Effects that are on will be appear in capitals OD, OCT for example. Effects that are off will be in lower case, cho, dly for example. Use the parameter button to scroll through available effects. Hope this helps! Its a great unit and you can get some decent sounds if you dig deep!

Thanks Brent, that is the current way I have been using the board for years, but there is also a way to set the board up to be like a bunch of stomp boxes instead of patches, when the board is in this ‘Manual Mode’ you can use the bank switches to turn on and off effects as well as the 1-4 switches.

I have had it setup like that a few times but cannot remember how to get the board into that configuration.

Selecting Each Effect to Be Turned
On and Off with the Number Pedals
You can change the effects that are turned on and off with
the number pedals 1
–

Press PARAMETER [

display the following screen.

] to move the cursor,
and turn the PATCH/VALUE dial to select the effect to
be assigned to the pedal.
The effects that can be assigned to each pedal are shown
below.
Number 1: COMP/LIMITER or WAH
Number 2: OD/DIST or FX-1
Number 3: CHORUS or FX-2
Number 4: This pedal is a dedicated PEV/DLY pedal.
However, when selecting Sound On Sound
with the REV/DLY FX Select (p. 27), the
Sound On Sound control function is
automatically assigned to this pedal and the
CTL pedal. Refer to p. 54 for more
information when using this function.
* The name and on/off status of the selected effect appear in the
display in capitals when the effect is on, and in lowercase when
the effect is off.
* Each of the effect names indicated in the display are the actual
effect names as selected with FX Select and other controls.

To save the settings, perform the Write procedure (p. 23).
Press [EXIT] to return to the Play screen

Hi! Pardons for replying to a zombie thread, but in case the OP hasn’t gotten closer, I was actually just asked the same question and have posted a few videos on the Boss GT-6B one of which is how to get it into “stompbox” mode.
