how would this sound?

brighter, but "too bright" would be a judgment call based on what you're doing with it. if you're doing a grindy rock thing with a bit of compression on the signal, it can be a cool tone. a 250k pot would be a little brighter than stock, and a 500k would be just about "wide open" in comparison.

i would leave the tone pot in (which would also tame it down a little even when all the way up), so you could control things for different gigs.
