How you deal with a too loud B string?

Kidding! Have you tried muting the string a little bit and see if that helps or makes it worse?

The lowest strings are the hardest to EQ, so dedicating B & E to one coil will make it easier to balance them. A, D & G are less difficult to EQ and can be 'averaged' to match with the other coil.

Reverse P will decrease the boom on the B & E still further, and make A, D & G a little fatter. Win win

I think solving the problem at source leads to a better balanced sound, rather than fixing it later down the chain. After a 30 yr career I suspect I got a lot of work from my reverse P sound, rather than my abilities alone. Oh dear...
