How's your handwriting? How does it compare to your bass playing?

Twelve years of Catholic school and four years of architectural drafting. Then a stroke five years ago at age 64.

At first I didn't know if I'd be able to play bass again. But I persisted and was able to use it as physical therapy. I'm not quite as quick as I was as a youngster, but if I play every day I'm pretty fluid.

OTOH, my cursive handwriting suffered the most. I scribble like I had a stroke. My block printing is still pretty good though.

I’ve actually gotten compliments on my handwriting, which I don’t think are deserved; I guess it says more about how bad y’alls is.

My bass playing is similar to my handwriting only in the respect that both get worse the faster I try to do them.

My handwriting is worse than most medical doctors. It's so bad that I can hardly decipher it myself, and it requires a great deal of focus, discipline, and attempted patience for me to write legibly. Thank goodness for computer word processing.

My bass playing is quite good, pretty much always!

I'm often told my handwriting is small, and I try to conserve paper and such and usually squish more words than some other people with larger writing. That being said, I like to think my handwriting looks really nice and aesthetically-pleasing, even if it is a little hard to read. My bass playing is similar - I use more notes than some, but even if there is a little extra going on in my lines, there's usually a nice melody/melodic lick somewhere in there.

Off topic but right handed and left eye dominant is great for baseball. Hitting right handed with a strong left eye => you get a better look at the pitch than if your dominant eye was the right eye.

My hand writing sucks but my playing is fairly clean. I guess my handwriting would be decent too if I worked on it as much as I work at playing bass.

Never had problems hitting, just catching.

Always picked last in baseball. :atoz:

Recently I dug out of a closet some things I wrote in my 30's, about 40 years ago. I was surprised at the quality of my handwriting. Smooth, even cursive. In those days I wrote by hand letters to friends and family. I wrote all my college work in cursive. But with the coming of the internet letters were replaced by emails and all papers were typed on the computer keyboard. Now I barely remember how to write in cursive. When I write by hand I print in all capital letters.

My bass lines and my printing are similar. Simple, precise.
