HPF pedal (battery powered)

Does anyone have a battery powered HPF they'd recommend? I'm looking at something to use with upright and for my gigs being able to run it off a battery is required. It looks like the Fdeck is a solid choice but is there anything else out there that might work better?

I don't necessarily need more EQ or tone shaping available on the pedal but if it's there that would be nice.

Since it's a modular build it would be trivially easy for a savvy DIYer to build up just the HPF part. But I'd still recommend one of @fdeck's HPFs as the easiest solution.

I'm a big fan of Josh's work, but 10mA is a lot of current draw for battery powered applications.

The Fdeck would be my first pick if that's all you need. But if you want to prepare for any future addtional toneshaping:

It's not a dedicated HPF, but you may want to look at the zoom MS-60B+. By the sound of it, It has more effects than you'll need but you'll also have 5 effect slots left after the HPF for any additional toneshaping you may want to do. HPF, LPF, (para) EQ's and stuff is all there. It's not terribly expensive and runs on 2 AA batteries. 2x 2100mA rechargeables can do 5-6 hours of playing easily. Probably longer if the HPF is all you're using.
 
I don't know much about pedal design, does it constantly draw 10mA or will it draw less if the gain knob is not turned up?
That depends, but it can often be the case that it’s nearly constant in an MI pedal context. Best to just ask Josh in THOUGH. I spec a different opamp set for battery powered pedals, Josh might be able to accommodate that as well. The one I posted upthread draws about 1.8 mA at idle, FWIW.

The original FDeck HPF pres were specifically made for upright use and battery-only power. Hard to beat! The Series 3 which is only powered by external pedalboard power was designed because a bunch of electric bassists were buying his upright pres and the headroom wasn’t really optimized for electric basses so he made one specifically for electric use. So go for one of the other FDecks and you should be good

I love my FDeck v 3
Mine runs on batteries or 9V adapter.

I also have a Qstrip. I really like it as well. It has more flexibility regarding overall EQ shaping.

But the FDeck is much simpler and has more control over the frequency of the HPF.

I thought the Type 3 only ran on power supply- Am I crazy or maybe he updated it at some point?
Edit- just looked and at least the current ones can take battery. I’ll have to dig mine out and check! That’d be handy for my electric upright (haven’t used it for that as I was certain it was power-supply only)
