I've started using my FDeck HPF again, and have noticed that I'm going through batteries more quickly than I remember. I leave a patch cord plugged into the "input" jack all the time, because I thought the unit is only draining the battery when a cable is plugged into the "output" jack. But perhaps I'm wrong? When it is actually using battery power?

Usage is 8 hours per week, in two 4-hour gigs.

If you're only getting 8 hours out of a battery, something is wrong, or you're using really bad batteries.

If you're getting more than eight but less than you remember, I'd honestly question the number of variables involved in that memory... Not all batteries are created equal, and production is not necessarily consistent over time ("they don't make 'em like they used to, now get off my lawn!"). My gig schedule hasn't been consistent over time either.

I check for the flash while packing up before every gig. That test has never failed me.

If I'm using it on a pedalboard setup, I use an adapter, eliminating the battery variable entirely.

I used to keep an HPF-Pre strapped on the tailpeiece with the pickup always plugged in to the "input" and it didn't seem to me like the battery was draining between gigs.
I eventually want back to just using it on the floor because it does seem to go through batteries more quickly than my active bass guitars, and undoing & redoing the straps got to be bothersome.
