no one style is very dependant on effects..except for maybe drum and bass kinda stuff??

a big pedalboard (mine atleast) is more to be used for any kind of music. its to create versatility in your sound. i leave on a light overdrive for rock/blues gigs, but for other shows i might use nothing the whole night, or sometimes ill be phase shifting, envelope filtering, demolishing my tone all night...

My noise/ambient projects use quite a few effects. Then again, I've been known to use 9 different effects on a 2 1/2 minute hardcore punk song and follow it with a song that's only got a touch of chorus for about 20 seconds in the middle.
